Stefan Andjelković, a senior at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) majoring in Finance, has carved a distinct leadership path that is deeply intertwined with his fraternity experience. At just 22 years old, Stefan has already held key leadership positions on campus, with his involvement in Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity (Pike) serving as a foundation for much of his success. His journey demonstrates the powerful role fraternity life can play in developing future leaders both on campus and in the real world.
Stefan’s leadership journey began during his second year of college when he was elected to the executive board of his fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha, as the chapter’s secretary. He recalls how joining Pike and other student organizations like Student Government allowed him to refine his public speaking, leadership, and team management skills. “I chose to get involved because I wanted to be a part of organizations that positively impact the school,” Stefan says, reflecting on his decision. “Being in Pike gave me the opportunity to not only develop personally but also to make a tangible difference on campus.”
One of the key advantages Stefan attributes to his fraternity experience is how it directly prepared him for higher leadership roles, particularly in Student Government (SG). “My fraternity equipped me with many leadership skills which allowed me to be appointed into top positions in SG,” he explains. He eventually ran for and won a prominent student government position, thanks in part to the strong support network of his fraternity brothers. “I believe if it was not for Pike, I would have lost the election. Having a strong organization helping and supporting you throughout your campaign, tabling, and attending all events is something you simply can’t get in another organization,” he adds.
Stefan’s story echoes findings from research conducted by the North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC), which shows that fraternity men are more likely to take on leadership roles on campus. In fact, fraternity members make up a significant portion of Student Government leaders across campuses nationwide. This correlation is not coincidental; the leadership training, sense of accountability, and teamwork fostered within fraternities directly translate into broader campus leadership roles. Fraternity men like Stefan are more likely to demonstrate the initiative and drive needed to succeed in roles such as Student Government President and Vice President, making their mark on both their universities and their future careers.
Beyond his fraternity and Student Government, Stefan’s involvement extends to other areas of campus life, including the tennis club. But it is clear that his fraternity experience has been the driving force behind his development as a leader. He highly encourages other fraternity and sorority members to get involved in Student Government, emphasizing that the leadership roles they take on within their chapters can seamlessly translate into broader campus leadership positions. “I highly encourage Greeks to get involved in Student Government because the leadership roles they take on in their fraternities and sororities can directly be translated to positions in SG,” Stefan advises.
Looking ahead, Stefan has ambitious plans to enter the world of Wealth Management after graduation. He firmly believes that the skills and connections he has gained through his fraternity involvement have set him on a path toward success in his future career. “Becoming Greek can and will directly help with your career,” Stefan notes. “Getting more involved will help you meet the right people who can assist you with information about jobs and opportunities.”
Stefan Andjelković’s story is a testament to how fraternity life can serve as a stepping stone for leadership development on campus and beyond. As he prepares to graduate and enter the professional world, the skills and experiences he gained through Pi Kappa Alpha and Student Government will undoubtedly continue to guide him as he pursues his career in Wealth Management. His journey is a powerful example of how fraternity involvement can transform not only individual lives but also entire communities, paving the way for a new generation of leaders.
