Highlighting Jax Badeaux: SAE and Nicholls State Student Body President

As a senior at Nicholls State University, Jax Badeaux’s journey in student government and fraternity life reveals a deep commitment to his campus, peers, and future career aspirations. Majoring in Political Science and History with a concentration in Pre-Law and a minor in English, Jax, 22, from Schriever, Louisiana, has made the most of his college experience, both academically and as a leader within the student body and his fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE).

Currently serving as Student Body President, Jax’s leadership journey is built on dedication and an ever-growing sense of purpose. Before his presidency, he represented the Liberal Arts as a senator and served as Student Body Vice President, all roles through which he earned respect and recognition, including the SGA Outstanding Senator Award (2021-2022) and twice receiving the SGA Senator Scholarship. In Spring 2023, he was honored with the Political Science Outstanding Citizenship Award, followed by the Academic Excellence Award in Political Science in Spring 2024. Each accomplishment underscores his dedication to serving others and making meaningful contributions to his campus community.

Jax’s time in SAE has profoundly shaped his leadership style. As the Alumni Relations Chair, he keeps the connection between alumni and active members strong, fostering community and building lasting ties. Though he intentionally held smaller roles within his fraternity to focus on his student government responsibilities, SAE provided a foundation of support and development that proved invaluable. “My SAE brothers were especially vocal and proud supporters,” Jax recalls, crediting them for their steadfast encouragement throughout his campaign. The fraternity community, along with the broader fraternity and sorority organizations on campus, played a pivotal role in his successful election. This supportive network allowed him to connect with students beyond typical campus circles, bringing his vision and dedication to a wider audience.

Beyond student government and SAE, Jax has extended his leadership across campus in various capacities, including his service as Vice Chair for the Board of Regents Council of Student Body Presidents and as President of the University Dining Association (2022-2023). Through each of these roles, he’s gained a holistic perspective on the issues students face, further inspiring him to effect change.

Looking ahead, Jax’s sights are set on a future in state government and public policy, where he hopes to develop policies that protect and empower people. “Too often, people are left vulnerable to harmful practices,” Jax shares, “and I hope to protect them in both public and private sectors through impactful policy work.” His dedication to making a positive impact on people’s lives is a guiding force in his career aspirations.

Jax Badeaux is a testament to the power of fraternity values and student government experience in shaping tomorrow’s leaders. His journey exemplifies the strength of community, the importance of a supportive network, and the impact of authentic leadership. Through his work and ambitions, Jax inspires those around him to dream big, serve others, and lead with integrity.
