Tyler Rowan, a junior at the University of Colorado Boulder, has taken on the role of Tri-Executive (Student Body President) following the 2024 elections. With a drive to maximize his college experience and a commitment to leadership, Tyler’s journey is a testament to his ambition and the supportive environment of his fraternity, Chi Psi (Alpha Psi Delta).
The Decision to Run
For Tyler, running for Tri-Executive was about more than just earning a degree. “I ran for this position because I want to get the most I can out of school,” he explains. “I want to learn valuable life skills that can help me throughout my life and career.” His aim was to become someone people could depend on, embodying the qualities of a true leader.
Fraternity Influence: Surrounding with Success
Although Tyler doesn’t hold a formal chapter position beyond being the WiFi Chairman, he believes in the power of his fraternity’s environment. “I believe in the idea that who you surround yourself with is a reflection of yourself,” Tyler says. His chapter, filled with driven individuals, encouraged him to take on the challenge of running for student government. This encouragement and support were crucial in preparing him for his new role.
Preparing for Leadership
Stepping into the Tri-Executive position presented a significant learning curve, but Tyler and his team were ready. “Throughout the summer, we have been meeting with various administrative positions on campus, figuring out the best way to optimize the student’s voice here on campus,” he notes. These preparations have equipped them to handle the responsibilities and challenges of student governance.
Chapter Support: A Collective Effort
Tyler’s campaign was a collaborative effort with his friend Alex Radz, who also ran for a prominent position in student government. “Our chapter loved the idea of my friend Alex Radz and I running for these positions,” Tyler recalls. During election week, their chapter provided unwavering support, demonstrating the power of fraternity unity and collective effort.
Inspirations and Career Aspirations
Tyler draws inspiration from his parents, appreciating their unique qualities. “My dad is a very driven person, so I have gained that attribute from him, and my mom is very level-headed, which I notice in myself,” he shares. These attributes have shaped his approach to leadership and personal growth.
Looking ahead, Tyler aspires to start his own business. “I have always been envious of entrepreneurial individuals and strive to be one myself,” he says. His experience in student government and his fraternity have equipped him with the skills and network necessary to pursue his entrepreneurial dreams.
Fraternity Experience: Beyond Expectations
Tyler’s experience with Chi Psi has exceeded his expectations. “My experience with my chapter has been everything and more than what I expected to get out of it,” he remarks. The ambitious and leadership-oriented environment has provided him with invaluable lessons and lifelong connections.
A Grateful Leader
As Tyler takes on his role as Tri-Executive, he expresses gratitude for the opportunity. “I am very grateful for this opportunity I have been given and plan to leave this campus better for those who come after me,” he affirms. With a clear vision and the support of his fraternity, Tyler is poised to make a lasting impact at the University of Colorado Boulder.
Tyler Rowan’s journey from fraternity life to Tri-Executive leadership showcases the profound influence of a supportive and ambitious community. His dedication to learning, leadership, and service reflects the core values of Chi Psi and his commitment to making a difference on campus and beyond.
